Assistance with Transport
Assistance with Transport
Assistance with Transport is a Core Support designed to help participants travel safely and reliably to access everyday activities, essential services, and opportunities within their community. This support is available for participants who are unable to use public transport independently due to their disability.
At Orient Support & Care Services (OSCS), we recognise that access to transport is key to independence, social connection, and achieving NDIS goals. Our transport supports are flexible, person-centred, and aligned with each participant’s individual needs and plan.
How Transport Supports Can Help
Transport supports enable participants to access:
Employment, education, or training
Medical, allied health, and therapy appointments
Community, social, and recreational activities
Volunteering opportunities
Daily errands and essential services
These supports help reduce isolation, improve participation, and promote greater independence in daily life.
Types of Transport Support
Depending on a participant’s NDIS plan, Assistance with Transport may include:
Funding to support travel costs for work, study, community activities, or appointments
Support worker-assisted transport, where a support worker provides transport or accompanies the participant to ensure safety and confidence
Assistance with planning and organising transport, including scheduling trips and identifying suitable travel options
Support to build confidence with travel, where appropriate, to encourage greater independence over time
Transport supports are delivered in a way that respects participant choice, safety, and comfort.
Supporting Access, Participation, and Independence
Assistance with Transport plays an important role in helping participants stay connected to their community and pursue their goals. By removing transport barriers, OSCS supports participants to live more independently, engage confidently in everyday life, and access the opportunities that matter most to them.
