Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is a Capacity Building support designed to assist participants living with psychosocial disability to build resilience, strengthen daily living skills, and work towards greater independence and wellbeing. This support focuses on recovery-oriented practice, recognising each person’s strengths, lived experience, and individual goals.
At Orient Support & Care Services (OSCS), our Psychosocial Recovery Coaching is grounded in respect, collaboration, and empowerment. We support participants to better understand their mental health challenges, build practical coping strategies, and develop the confidence needed to engage more fully in everyday life and the community.
What is Psychosocial Recovery Coaching?
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching supports participants to navigate the complexities of daily life while living with mental health challenges. Recovery Coaches work alongside participants to promote hope, choice, and self-determination, supporting them to build skills and strategies that enhance stability, wellbeing, and participation.
Recovery Coaching is not clinical therapy. Instead, it provides practical, strengths-based support that complements other mental health or clinical services and focuses on achieving meaningful, participant-identified goals.
Our Approach
We work collaboratively with participants to:
- Build understanding of their mental health and its impact on daily life
- Develop practical strategies to manage stress, routines, and emotional wellbeing
- Strengthen daily living skills, structure, and confidence
- Support engagement in community, social, educational, or vocational activities
- Promote independence, self-advocacy, and informed decision-making
- Identify personal strengths and support long-term recovery goals
- Coordinate with other supports and services, where appropriate
Support is tailored to the participant’s pace, preferences, and recovery journey, ensuring a respectful and empowering experience.
Supporting recovery, resilience, and independence
At OSCS, we view recovery as a personal and ongoing journey. Our approach focuses on:
- Building resilience and coping skills
- Supporting participants to regain a sense of control and purpose
- Encouraging meaningful connections and participation
- Strengthening confidence in managing daily life and challenges
By focusing on practical, achievable steps, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching supports participants to move towards greater independence and a more fulfilling life.
Person-centred and goal-focused support
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching at OSCS is:
- Person-centred – led by the participant’s goals, values, and choices
- Strengths-based – recognising abilities, lived experience, and resilience
- Flexible and responsive – adapting as needs and circumstances change
- Collaborative – working alongside participants, families, and other supports
We take time to listen, build trust, and support participants in ways that feel safe, respectful, and meaningful.
